Caitlin Urquhart6 Apr 2024 - 09:00

Details regarding Storm trials for the 2024-25 season

Thank you for your interest in Northants Storm Netball Club.

Trials are open to everyone, and we are always keen to welcome new players. As a performance club from juniors onwards, we do require all players (current and new) to trial. We are looking for athletes that are seeking to progress their netball through high quality coaching and exposure to competitive matches. We offer an established pathway all the way through to our National Premier League team.

When are trials?
Trials will take place on Sunday 5th May 2024. Times are as follows:
U12 - 9-11am
U16 - 11:30am-1:30pm
U14 - 2-5pm

Where are trials being held?
Wellingborough School, NN8 2BX

How old do I have to be to trial?
Separate trials will be held for each of the following age groups:-
U16 - current school years 9 & 10, i.e. born between 1st September 2008 and 31st August 2010
U14 - current school years 7 & 8, i.e. born between 1st September 2010 and 31st August 2012
U12 - current school year 6*, i.e. born between 1st September 2012 and 31st August 2013

For those thinking about trialling for our U12 squad, please note that we generally expect triallists to already play netball and have experience playing competitive matches. Trials will include playing 7 a side matches, not 5 a side. If you are new to netball, we recommend you consider registering your interest for our Mini sessions (using the separate form available on our website). Our Minis are non selective and open to players of all abilities. If you are unsure whether to attend Junior trials or join the waiting list for our Minis, please feel free to send us an email, outlining your daughter’s current netball experience and we will be able to advise.

* we will also accept trial registrations for athletes currently in school year 5 (i.e. born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014) subject to experience. Please email northants_storm@yahoo.com with details of your daughter’s current playing experience to discuss.

How much does it cost to trial?
There is a non-refundable trial fee of £5. A trials “ticket” should be purchased on our website, via the Shop. If you are not already a member of Pitchero, you will need to make an account to do so. Accounts should be made in the name of a parent/guardian.

Make sure to include the name of the player you are purchasing a ticket for when prompted, so that your payment is correctly allocated.

Any problems using Pitchero should be sent to northants_storm@yahoo.com where we will get back to you as soon as we can (please be aware this is a busy time for us so there may be a delay in responding).

How do I register?
Please make payment as specified above and complete the registration form available here:
https://forms.gle/39aZQyFSqzghtwP47

A separate form is required for each athlete trialling.

Registration closes on the 1st May 2024.

I am unable to attend the trial date, am I able to trial at another time?
Please complete a trial registration form and send an email to northants_storm@yahoo.com to let us know you are unable to attend. We will do our best to make alternative arrangements. This may including trialling at a training session in the weeks before/after trials or trialling in the autumn.

What happens if I am selected?
An email will be sent to all athletes following trials confirming results. Unfortunately our capacity is limited, and so we always have difficult decisions to make regarding selection.

If you are successful you will be expected to attend summer training sessions on Thursday evenings at Wellingborough School.

These will be used to prepare for the Regional League Qualifying Tournaments, on Sunday 16th June for U14s and Sunday 30th June for U16s, for which attendance is also compulsory. If you are not able to attend the appropriate date, it is vital this is noted on your trial registration form.

Please note, training nights from September are currently under review and are unlikely to remain on a Thursday. Training night will vary by team.

Who should I contact if I have a question about the club or trials process?
Any questions can be sent to northants_storm@yahoo.com where we will get back to you as soon as we can (please be aware this is a busy time for us so there may be a delay in us responding).
