Sunday’s game saw us face Penine in our first regional game back. From the first centre pass, we went out strong with some great linking play through court. We worked the ball into the circle very well with some lovely holds from Lottie Woodward at GS. We finished the first quarter with a dominant lead of 23-3.
There were no changes going into the second quarter and the teamwork and timing of movement down court was brilliant. We continued to use a variety of plays into the circle which worked very well and we finished at half time with a lead of 42-10.
By the third quarter, some changes were made, after settling into the new positions, our new additions fitted into the game perfectly with great performances from all. The solid defence was impenetrable and this resulted in the opposition only scoring 3 goals and the attack achieving close to 100% successful centre passes. The score at this point was 61-13 and we had a comfortable lead.
By the last quarter, we were just as eager to go as the first which definitely shone through. There were some incredible interceptions throughout court which resulted in them scoring just 1 goal. We played amazing netball to the end and the ball flowed very well down court. It was a great opportunity for us to try out a few different plays/passes in a game situation which really helped us to get to know each players' movements better. We ended the game with a 91-14 win, a great first game back for all the girls.
All shooters had great stats today and almost all rebounds were claimed. The centre court brought the ball down court effortlessly with minimal mistakes and many intercepts. There were some incredible interceptions throughout from Lottie Moffat, her competitive nature and determination resulted in her getting player of the match today which was very well deserved.
Great effort from all, very proud of everyone especially the U15s that fitted in straight away and all gave 100%. Looking forward to next week!
